Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) hold a central focus within our organization. Since 2012, we’ve dedicated our efforts to the field of sanitation business. Our journey commenced in the Muzaffarpur district of Bihar and steadily expanded to encompass additional districts within Bihar, along with two districts in West Bengal, namely Uttar Dinajpur and Birbhum.
Through our initiatives, we’ve empowered and nurtured 118 sanitation entrepreneurs, aiding them in establishing successful sanitation businesses. These entrepreneurs now actively vend sanitation products and related materials, securing a monthly income ranging between 20,000 to 25,000 rupees.
Remarkably, over the course of these few years, our endeavors have resulted in the sale of more than 50,000 toilets to the community. Furthermore, we have extended our focus to Fecal Sludge Management (FSM), actively promoting the establishment of Fecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTPs) in Bihar.
Our commitment to improving sanitation and hygiene remains unwavering, and we continue to expand our efforts to make a lasting impact on the communities we serve.
Mr. Carlos Bartada recently conducted an on-site visit to Duttabad Road in Bidhannagar, Kolkata-700064, West Bengal. This visit holds significant importance as it marks a crucial milestone in our efforts to address sanitation challenges within Kolkata’s slum areas.
The meticulous situation analysis and site selection process have served as the cornerstone for our project’s objectives. This approach ensures that our efforts are precisely tailored to the unique needs and conditions of the Duttabad community. Through this endeavor, our project aspires to achieve more than just enhancing sanitation facilities. We are committed to advancing health, promoting hygiene, and establishing a sustainable model for the maintenance of community latrines in the long term.
