Community Institution Development

The organization believes that sustainable rural development is rooted in strong and inclusive community institutions. The organization has built and strengthened SHGs, PGs, FPOs, VDCs, Water User Associations, and Saving & Purchase Groups to enhance local governance and collective livelihoods. As of March 2025, 4S India has successfully promoted 63 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) with over 38,000 members, achieving a cumulative turnover of ₹49.87 crore. These institutions have become key enablers of financial inclusion, enterprise development, and market access. Through systematic capacity building, members are trained in financial literacy, collective bargaining, organic and sustainable farming, post-harvest management, and digital safety. Strong focus is given to women’s leadership, ensuring their active participation and representation in decision-making roles. By fostering market linkages through e-NAM, ONDC, and corporate partnerships, and strengthening risk management through crop insurance and credit access, 4S India continues to make these institutions pillars of local resilience and economic empowerment.
